A splice box (also known as an optical cable splice box or protection box) is a sealing device used for the splicing and protection of optical cable lines. It operates within a temperature range of -40 ℃ to+60 ℃ and has a designed lifespan of 25 years. It is suitable for communication network terminal wiring and FTTH engineering. According to China Mobile's 2025 centralized procurement display, 11 manufacturers including Jiangsu Tongding Broadband won the bid for single end, dual end, and multi branch products, with a total procurement volume of 8.58 million sets, covering installation scenarios such as overhead and direct burial.
The main body of the device is made of high-strength engineering plastic or flame-retardant polycarbonate, with a protection level of IP66, and can withstand axial tensile forces of ≥ 1000N. The box is equipped with a reversible fusion splicing reel, with a fiber winding curvature radius of ≥ 30mm, supporting the construction of ribbon and ordinary fiber optic cable splitting. The sealing structure includes a valve and multiple layers of sealing rings. It has passed a 100kPa air tightness test and can withstand a voltage of 15kV (DC) for 1 minute without breakdown. It is suitable for repeated opening requirements. The products are divided into straight through type, branching type, and adapter assembly type to meet the expansion needs of optical cables with different numbers of cores. Some models use plug-in assembly or metal die-casting technology to enhance corrosion resistance.
